It may be one of the most important films you will ever watch. Mel Gibson's film illustrates the torturous true events of this momentous day in history.
The film primarily covers the final twelve hours of Jesus' life, with the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, the betrayal of Judas, the insomnia and grievance of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the harrowing torture of Jesus by the Roman guards, which is very distressing, and then the final act of his crucifixion. If this is not proof of the horrifying extremes that Jesus went through for the sake of our sins, I don't know what is.
Forgive them, Father. They know not what they do.
Throughout the film, it shows flashbacks of Jesus as a child and as a young man with Mary, his mother, giving the Sermon on the Mount, teaching the Twelve Apostles, and at the Last Supper. These are some of the most notable stories from the Bible. The dialogue is entirely in reconstructed Aramaic, vernacular Hebrew, and Latin with subtitles.
